Frequently Asked Questions

WHY WOULD I USE A PROFESSIONAL VACATION CONSULTANT?

“Travel” tops the list of things that people wish they had done more of at the end of their lives. It is an investment, and you want to be sure you precious time and money is being spent wisely.

At Inspiration Travel we are specialists in leisure travel, and during our own journeys  we have visited hundreds of resorts. In the last 15 years we have planned thousands of weddings, honeymoons and dream vacations.  We have counseled our clients through medical emergencies, accidents, break-ups, cancellations, and sadly, deaths.

Using an Inspiration Travel consultant will:

-Save you time

-Save you money

- Give you peace of mind

-Offer you an entire support system of professionals

-Relieve stress

- Make traveling enjoyable

WHAT ARE YOUR CONSULTING RATES?

To begin your journey, we charge a $100 initial consultation fee. This fee is credited toward your balance upon booking. If you do not book your vacation with Inspiration Travel the initial consultation fee is non-refundable.

Upon booking your vacation, we charge a service fee that equals 10% of your trip total, this is a fee in additional to your trip cost and is non-refundable upon cancellation.

Detailed itinerary planning, wedding and event consulting is contracted at a rate of $50 per hour (2 hour minimum).

Please submit an RFP for onsite event management, including the full scope of services required.

HOW DO YOU GET PAID?

Unlike travel agents who push certain resort chains in order to meet booking minimums to maintain their “status”, win fluffy awards, earn marketing dollars or override commission levels, Inspiration Travel takes great pride in consulting with our clients to find the perfect resort for your unique needs. We certainly have our favorite brands, but this is because of their superior value and service, and not because we receive additional compensation from them.

We charge consulting and service fees, and we also earn commissions from some of our suppliers.

These contracts also ensure you won’t be “walked” upon arrival to your resort. Unlike the Online Travel Agencies, whose clients are the lowest priority at a hotel, a property  faces big penalties & fines if they overbook and turn away a client that is booked under the contracted rates.

The bottom line; You arrive at the resort for your wedding along with your future mother in law, and there is only one room left. While you are being greeted with lavender scented towels and champagne, your mum to be, who booked on Expedia, is being sent down the road (true story).

HOW ARE YOU DIFFERENT THAN A TRAVEL AGENCY?

The number one complaint from people who recently used a travel agent, was that they were unresponsive or crabby. Yet, travel agents are busier than they have been in the last 10 years. The trend is changing, and as people have more resources available to them to book their vacations, they are becoming ever more confused.

Traditional agencies operate under a “trade off” mentality. Their agents are required to take on almost every client that calls or walks in, spending hours of their time giving advice and researching trips for people who have no vested interest in actually booking.

The assumption by travel agents,  is that spending their time with these shoppers & perhaps booking 20 trips to Las Vegas this week, will get balanced out by booking 1 or 2 honeymoons.

This division of their time, equates to your $20,000 honeymoon to Bora Bora, receiving the same amount of effort, and also the same level of harried service, as your buddy’s trip to Las Vegas.  This system does not work for us.

We are specialists in what we do. We plan dozens of destination weddings every year, along with hundreds of honeymoons and all inclusive vacations. We believe that all of our clients deserve our very best work, and not just the energy we have leftover.

Charging consulting fees, and ensuring we earn a minimum of 10% on every trip allows us to maintain the level of service that we built our reputation on and even turn away clients if our current workload demands it.

WE WANT TO USE CREDIT CARD POINTS OR FREQUENT FLYER MILES FOR PART OF OUR TRIP, CAN WE DO THAT THROUGH INSPIRATION TRAVEL?

Yes, our services include advising you how to best utilize your airline points. In fact ,some of our clients consult with us just to assist in choosing a resort that they are paying for entirely with points, to ensure they are making the best choice for their vacation.

OUR PLANS HAVE CHANGED, CAN YOU REFUND OUR CONSULTING FEE?

Consulting fees are non-refundable. However, if you begin planning the original trip again within 18 months of paying your initial consultation fee, we will waive it the second time. After 18 months, you will be charged a new consultation fee.

There are occassions when your travel insurance will cover the consulting fee in the event of  trip cancellation.

ARE YOU CURRENTLY ACCEPTING NEW CLIENTS?

We are currently accepting new clients for all services. During certain seasons, we only accept new clients by referral. This ensures our currently contracted trips receive our utmost attention.  In the event we cannot assist you, we have several specialized partners, that we will refer you to.

DO YOU OFFER ONSITE SERVICES?

Yes, we do. We have managed events including golf tournaments, medical trials, destination weddings, business incentive trips, local weddings, and the NHL draft. Our experience in wedding planning, F&B management, transportation management, hospitality, and wellness travel allows us to help make your event a success
